Raymarine Evolution PowerPilot With ACU-100 & 0.5ltr Hydraulic Pump - No Control Head Frequenty Asked Questions:

Q. Which Raymarine Evolution Autopilot pack is right for my boat?
A. Choosing the correct pack depends on your vessel type and displacement: EV-100: Ideal for tiller, wheel, and small hydraulic systems (up to 7,500 kg), EV-150 / EV-200 / EV-300 / EV-400: Suited for larger yachts and powerboats with hydraulic or mechanical steering.

Q. Is installation of Raymarine Evolution Autopilots difficult?
A. Installation is straightforward for most DIY-savvy boat owners. Each pack includes: EV Sensor Core, ACU, Control Head, Cabling Kit. Mounting the EV Sensor Core above or below deck is simple, and SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 connectivity ensures plug-and-play integration. For complex setups, professional installation is recommended.

Q. Do Raymarine Evolution Autopilots require calibration?
A. Minimal calibration is needed. The system auto-learns your vessel's handling characteristics during initial use. You can fine-tune rudder response, hard-over time, and vessel type via the control head or Raymarine MFD.

Q. Can I integrate Raymarine Evolution Autopilot with my chartplotter or MFD?
A. Yes. Evolution Autopilots are fully compatible with Raymarine Axiom, Element, and older MFDs via SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000. This allows route tracking, wind-based steering, and control via touchscreen.

Q. How does the EV Sensor Core improve steering accuracy?
A. The EV Sensor Core uses solid-state gyros and accelerometers to monitor vessel motion in 3D. It instantly adapts to sea state, speed, and helm input, delivering smoother course keeping than traditional fluxgate compasses.

Q. Is the Raymarine Evolution Autopilot suitable for UK coastal and offshore cruising?
A. Absolutely. Evolution Autopilots are engineered for UK waters - from Solent sailing to North Sea crossings. They maintain tight heading control in tidal streams, cross swells, and gusty conditions, making them ideal for solo or long-distance cruising.

Q. What power requirements does the Evolution Autopilot have?
A. Most Evolution systems run on 12V DC. Power draw varies by drive unit: EV-100: 7A max, Larger ACUs may require up to 15A. Ensure your battery bank and cabling meet the system's amperage needs, especially in rough weather.

Q. What are common troubleshooting tips for Raymarine Evolution Autopilots?
A. If your autopilot isn't performing optimally: Check software updates via Raymarine MFD, Recalibrate compass if heading is erratic, Verify speed input (SOG preferred), Adjust hard-over time for better rudder control. For persistent issues, consult Raymarine's troubleshooting guide or contact our support team.

Q. Does Raymarine offer warranty and UK-based support for Evolution Autopilots?
A. Yes. Raymarine provides a 2-year standard warranty, extendable to 3 years upon product registration. UK-based support is available via authorised dealers and service centres. All units sold through CactusNav are covered under Raymarine's manufacturer warranty.
