Navigation Features The black box processor incorporates an embedded set of C Map Max Pro charts which can be unlocked for your own specific region. Max Pro is one of C Map's most advanced charting standards with excellent detail, worldwide coverage, satellite overlays, aerial photos, port plans, navigation information and most importantly charts can be updated over the internet in real time. Charts can be purchased outright or alternatively rented for a 4 month period - allowing you to explore new cruising grounds without the cost of buying additional cartography. For global cruisers there is also the option to buy a complete world folio at a reduced price. Charting Capabilities Charts can be displayed either head up, course up or north up so long as the relevant heading information is received. You can also have multiple chart windows or pages. Each page could contain 1, 2, 3 or 4 functions all shown on the same screen at the same time in individual panes. Chart data can also be layered with the user free to select buoyage, lights, chart text, depth etc. type detail to effectively customise the onscreen view. There are default settings built in for planning, underway, fishing, anchored and local which automatically set these parameters to give an optimised presentation. Waypoints, Tracks & Marks Thanks to the built in hard drive, there are virtually unlimited waypoints, marks, routes and tracks and tracks can be stored and named as necessary. Waypoints can be graphically listed, named and also given a full set of notes with an onscreen keyboard. At a single touch of the display or press of a button, the chart can be turned into a 3D chart to see a panoramic view of the selected area as if you were flying over it. You can change your elevation and angle of view and zoom in and out to show more or less detail. It is also possible to display a 2D and 3D chart side by side in two panes and the two panes can be synchronized to show different perspectives of the same area. Sounder Option A 1Kw high performance sounder is available which connects to the 8000i system through the Ethernet data network. This high performance dual frequency 50/200 KHz sounder offers excellent performance. The unit can also support lower power 600W transducers which may already be fitted on the boat. Radar Option The 8000i is compatible with the digital range of scanners available from Northstar/Navico including the 2Kw 20", 4Kw 25" radome style antennas and a full range of open array antennas. It is also compatible with the latest broadband radar technology available from Navico. Multiple Displays And Networks Multiple 8000i systems can be interlinked together sharing GPS, sounder. radar and charting data throughout the system. Entertainment Options The unit features standard USB style connections to connect a DVD, CD or memory stick type device which can contain video or audio information. An on screen interface allows easy playback of these sources and will even accept a video camera input either directly to the display or via a network connection for larger systems. Display Features The 15" touch screen display is a high performance sunlight viewable waterproof display which connects directly to the black box processor of the 8000i. The monitor can also accept separate inputs from other devices - it features a DVI input, VGA input, two S video inputs and 2 composite inputs. There is also a USB port attaching the remote keyboard or other USB device. Ordering Charts The 8000i processor is pre-loaded with a global database of charts. To unlock a specific area of charting information you simply need to purchase a licence. The licences are held on a secure dongle which can be taken away from the boat if required or even used in other 8000i systems. Chart updates can easily be moved via a simple USB storage device to and from a home computer
